Listing Tools

So as you know if you have been following my blog (sorry for the delay between posts bad sprained wrist kept me from doing much of anything for about a month) I am now selling vintage as well as handcrafts online.  I am utilizing Etsy, Poshmark, Ebay, Bonanza, Mecari, and have just opened a Shopify store.

To make it easier I have started using List Perfectly to help in cross posting my listings to the different platforms.  I love this program.  I create all my listings in List Perfectly then list them to the platforms I want to list them to with the exception of Bonanza.  Bonanza is not yet supported my List Perfectly, but there are several other platforms that are like Depop and Facebook Marketplace and Instagram among others.  I think there are a total of 10 they support.  I do have a referral link for List Perfectly.  They have three levels to chose from with more bells and whistles the higher the level.  If you use my referral I get a few pennies, and you get 30% off your first months fees.  List perfectly is a month to month platform so you can cancel at any time.  Use my referral link  listperfectly  or use the code thesassycrafter at check out.

I tried Worthpoint, but after paying for a subscription and using it about 3 months they stopped letting me see any of the items I was looking for, and started trying to get me to sign up for an additional subscription to the site.  They have a subscription that shows values of items sold, as well as a different subscription that allows you to look up marks on items in order to identify them.  Both are over $200 a year, so not worth it in my opinion.  Especially when they push you to sign up for both even if you only want one.

I am trying Photo Room, both through the app and on the desktop.  So far it is working okay.  I need to play around with it a little more before I can make a recommendation.

For shipping I am using Pirate Ship.  LOVE this program.  Nice discounts, integrates nicely with Etsy,  customer service is great.  I have the free version right now, but if things pick up the way I hope I will be doing the paid version at some point.  I will keep you posted.

I am still researching thermal printers.  Have it down to about 3 or 4 brands.  Still going over the pros and cons of these, so will have to get back to you on that as well.

I am getting bubble wrap, tissue paper, boxes, and tape off Amazon right now.  I am researching other vendors to see if I can get better deals for small quantities and may have it narrowed down soon.  Again, I will let you know.

Bonanza integrates with Ebay nicely.  I am using the free version, and have had a couple of sales on there already.  Basically you set it up so your fixed priced items on Ebay are automatically pulled into your storefront on Bonanza.  I then go in to the seller dashboard and edit items, jus to make sure everything is listed for sale.  Sometimes you have to tweak a few things before hitting the list button.  I also like to go in at least once a week and upload my listings to google.  Bonanza is great about letting you know if something doesn't get listed to google and why, so you can go in and fix the  problem.

More updates coming.  In the meantime here is a cute picture for your enjoyment.

Amazon Handmade

Well I finally took the plunge and signed up for Amazon Handmade.  Fees are a bit higher, but chances of getting seen a little better.  That means I currently have an online presence on Bonanza, Etsy, and Amazon.

I will continue to list completed items on all three websites, as well as patterns on Etsy.  I am finishing up the pattern for a cute little monster  that I hope to have listed in a couple of days.  I'll post a picture of Tennie the Tennacle Monster below.  He will be available for $5.00 on Etsy.  If you are interested and want to save some money you can email me and use monster pattern as your subject line, give me an email addy and I will invoice you for $4.00.  When I receive payment I will send your a pdf of the pattern, easy peasy.

If you prefer a printed pattern I will have those available also,  but they will be slightly higher to cover the cost of postage.  Printed PDFs will be available on Bonanza about a week after the electronic downloads become available on Etsy at a cost of $6.00,  I will mail them out directly usually next business day after receiving payment.  You can get a printed PDF mailed to you cheaper by emailing me and using printed monster pattern in your subject line.  Again give me your email addy AND your mailing address and I will invoice you.  The printed pattern will be mailed out usually within 24 hours of receipt of payment.

I will be using square to invoice, if you prefer to pay via paypal or venmo give me the correct email addy for paypal and i will invoice you, for venmo I will send you my venmo id and name so you can pay.

I have a couple of other patterns currently listed on Etsy, that I am going to be reworking.  I plan to offer them as printed patterns as well as leaving them as pdf downloads.  When they are ready to be released I will do a blog post.

On another note, I am looking for pattern testers.  If you are interested email, and let me know.  When I have patterns ready to test I will email, letting you know what type of pattern, and how soon the test results would be needed.  If you want to test email back, and I will send you a copy of the  pattern.  I can't pay for this, but you will get a copy of the pattern when the kinks are worked out. (I do allow people to sell the items I make using my patterns as long as I receive credit for the patten)

Work in Progress

I am in the process of getting the kinks worked out of a new pattern.  It is for a hooded cowl.  Here is a picture of the finished product

Writing the patterns can be problematic for me because I learned to crochet by watching my Granny Blanch, actually reading patterns didn't come until almost 40 years later.  My Granny tended to call the stitches the short stitch, the tall stitch, etc.  She could look at a pattern, and recreate it.  Not sure if she ever learned to read a pattern, but boy did she make some pretty things in her life.

Anyway as soon as I get the kinks worked out the pattern will be listed on etsy.  Finished products will be available on both etsy and bonanza as I get time to make them.

New Blog, New Start

After a three year hiatus from blogging for my online craft business I decided to scrap the old blog and start new.  Especially since I have decided to take the business in a new direction.  I will still me concentrating on finished crocheted items, but I plan to add my own patterns, as well as other finished craft items, and vintage craft supplies and patterns to my shops.  Yes shops.  I have one on etsy :  EcoDeco and one on Bonanza:  The Sassy Crafter.

After a great deal of crunching numbers, and taking a couple of years off after my Mothers death to lung cancer, I am ready to jump back into the business of crafting with both feet.  I have started slow, with just a few things listed on both sites at this time.  That will change as the days go by.  I hope to have two, fully stocked shops by the end of July.

Along with restarting my business.  I am restarting myself.  I started a diet last year in July when I topped the scale at 247 pounds.  Way too much weight for a 5 foot small boned woman to carry.  I have lost down to 213 pounds just by making better choices in what I eat and walking at least half to one mile daily.  My goal is to be down to 110 - 120 by the end of 2018.

I will be adding bells and whistles to this blog as I go along,  For now its just a bare bones, plain jane undertaking.
